In the latest episode of The Walking Dead, the herd swarms Alexandria.

It’s been a very bleak and frightful day so far in Alexandria. The Wolves had just attacked, people were killed and the life they’ve all grown accustomed to was shattered forever. Deanna surveyed the compound from on high, watching as residents pile up the dead and Maggie is told about Glenn’s disappearance. A voice caught Deanna’s attention and she turned. Rick, running for his natural-born life, is being followed by the other half of the herd. Michonne and Morgan open the gate to let Rick in, ready to take out any walkers.

The Alexandrians are understandably scared shitless. They think they’re going to die very soon and decide it’s time to raid the food pantry. Why ration when there’s a zombie apocalypse right outside your front gate? But Deanna’s son Spencer convinced them to put the food back, only to steal a bottle and some goodies for himself. When Mom comes in to confront her drunk son, he tells her that it’s her fault people died. If she had convinced everyone to fight instead of shower and eat dinner every night like things were normal, Reg would still be alive (low blow Spencer, but kinda true).

Ron, Jessie’s wannabe-tough-guy son, played with a knife cuz he still hates Rick. He tried to step to Carl after arguing about Enid, but ummm, Carl has killed people. He ain’t scared of that kid. Ron is lucky all Carl did was knock his ass down instead of blow his head off.

Dr. Denise has no idea what she’s doing and wants to hang it all up. Thankfully, Tara talked her off the ledge and convinced her to hold on a bit longer, which she did. But it was Jessie’s speech to her neighbors that won the good doctor over. Jessie, who put a knife into the skull of a neighbor-now-walker, tells her frightened neighbors to basically fight or die. Dr. Denise, rejuvenated by the speech, reads through Gray’s Anatomy and finds something useful to help her patient. After her small success, she visited Tara and gave her a great big smooch on the mouth. New couple alert?

Speaking of smooches, Rick and Jessie finally locked lips. Sheriff Grimes, who has wanted a piece of Jessie since he arrived in Alexandria, made some progress on that front. I’m pretty sure her son Ron won’t be too happy about that.

Maggie, bless her heart, gathered her gear and made plans to find Glenn (cuz he’s NOT dead). Spencer offered to go with her, taking them under the wall through a sewer line. They come across a couple of walkers on the way, but find themselves too close to the herd when they get to the end. Spencer is willing to chance it, but not Maggie. She knows that there’s a chance she will never see Glenn again if he is dead (which he is NOT) and she’ll never know for sure. Maggie then reveals some news, which I won’t spoil here. Will we ever see Glenn again? Will the rest of the group make it back to Alexandria? How will the Alexandrians survive the herd? And will we finally see more of Darryl?

Stay tuned.

The Walking Dead airs on Sunday at 9 p.m. on AMC.
