Well, it’s that time again. Time to, well, eat, drink and be literary. Brooklyn Academy of Music (affectionately known as BAM) is hosting it’s annual event where regular schmoes like me get to have dinner and pick the brains of their favorite authors. I attended last year’s event with guest author Zadie Smith (see my post here) and besides being in awe of Ms. Smith and her brilliant brain, I enjoyed the food, the crowd and the space itself. Being surrounded by fellow book lovers was a joy. This year’s lineup proves to be a great one, with the likes of … Continue reading Eat, Drink & Be Literary 2017

HBO has been giving me some much needed life now that we are counting down until the Orange Apocalypse a.k.a. President Clown’s inauguration. With the addition of Issa Rae’s show Insecure and sci-fi thriller Westworld, I am one happy camper. Insecure Issa Rae, of Awkward Black Girl fame, has burst onto the cable scene with her new show, Insecure. The show is funny, sexy and deals with relationships, both personal and business, that feel all too real. It didn’t take long for me to become invested in this show and by the finale, I was a wreck. Ms. Rae has … Continue reading New Shows to Love
