My Literary Dilemma

Yes, I know.  I’m supposed to be on hiatus.  But I have a dilemma, people!!  Strand Books, one of my favorite places to buy books in New York City, is hosting two book events on the same damn day.  At the same time!!

First, there’s the Welcome to Nightvale book tour.  If you’ve been living under a rock this whole time, Welcome to Nightvale is an amazing podcast about a sleepy, creepy little town called Nightvale, a place where crazy things happen on a biweekly basis.  This October, Jeffrey Cranor and Joseph Fink, the nutty guys behind Nightvale and podcasts Between the Wires and Alice Isn’t Dead, will be releasing their newest book, It Devours!  Now, I am a diehard fan of all of their podcasts so I jumped at the chance to review the book (coming soon) and figured I’d head to the book event.  And then Strand messed me up completely.

On the same day, at the same time, another podcast I love is hosting its own event, this time with the Black Girl Magic trifecta of Jessica Williams and Phoebe Robinson of the 2 Dope Queens podcast, and the sensational Gabrielle Union of Being Mary Jane and one of the reigning queens of Instagram (seriously, the woman is flawless).  Ms. Union will be on her own tour for her new book We’re Going to Need More Wine (don’t we always?).  Her debut is a book of essays on sexuality, gender, race and other issues affecting women in showbiz and just plain ‘ole life.

So now what do I do?

As I ponder this conundrum, make your own decision and purchase your tickets for one of these great events.

We’re Going to Need More Wine will be at the Gramercy Theatre.  Details and tickets are here.

It Devours! will be at Strand Books in the Rare Book Room.  Details and tickets are here.

Both events will be held on October 17 from 7-8 pm.

Say it here!
