The Walking Dead, Season 8 – How It’s Gotta Be

In the mid-season finale of The Walking Dead, the unthinkable happens.

I am not okay.  I cannot seem to wrap my head around what happened at the end of this episode.  It seems like a cruel joke, like when we all thought Glenn was dead and then he wasn’t (and then he really was).  You all know what I’m talking about.  Carl Grimes, son of Rick Grimes, who I like to call Little Savage, was bitten by a walker.

Just typing that last sentence made me ill.  How could TWD do this to us??  This season has been super slow and although the mid-season finale was good, what happened to Carl was just wrong.  How is Rick supposed to recover from this?  What about us??

Side notes: I’m glad that King Ezekiel got off his ass and helped his people escape.  I’m glad Eugene did the right thing and let Father Gabriel and Dr. Karson go.  I’m glad Maggie showed everyone that she’s a real leader and shot one of the Saviors (even though it should have been that prick, Jared).  I’m glad Michonne took her katana and sliced the fuck out of the Savior who grabbed her.  No mercy for them, ever (you hear that, Jesus??).

Here’s what I’m hoping for during the second half of Season 8:

  1. The season fucking moves! It was way too slow for the first half and things need to pick up;
  2. Rick and Daryl need to have a showdown because it was Daryl’s dumbass plan that caused all of the carnage and destruction for the group;
  3. That somehow Carl is immune to a walker bite, although he didn’t look too good at the end of the show;
  4. THAT THE SHOW PICKS UP THE DAMN PACE!

Will all of my wishes come true in February?  Will the show go back to being the can’t-miss show it was before?  If Carl dies, will Rick make it through without breaking?

Stay tuned.
