The Walking Dead, Season 8 – Honor

This post is about Carl Grimes and that is all.  I’ll talk about the other stuff that happened in this episode later after I pull myself together.

So The Walking Dead fucking did it.  The show actually let our boy, our Little Savage, Carl Grimes, son of Rick Grimes, die.  I am messed up right now.  What the hell are we supposed to do without Carl??

The show began with Carl in the woods, fighting off a walker.  He was trying to save Siddiq, the dude he saw at the gas station before Rick frightened him off.  Carl went back for him because he knew Siddiq would never make it on his own.  And because of this, Carl ended up with a walker bite.

People, I am not okay with this.  If you’ve ever read the comics, you know that Carl is alive and well.  But thanks to what I’ve heard was some kind of contract dispute, Carl was killed off and Chandler Riggs left the show (and fucking cut his hair afterwards).

The show pulled at our heart strings as we watched Carl come to grips with his impending death, spend time with his sister, take Polaroid selfies, and write goodbye letters.  Knowing that he still did his duty to save the people of Alexandria was a boss move.  And he left this world like a boss, shooting himself in the head so neither Rick or Michonne had to do it.  It’s a shame that things ended up like this because Carl is one of my favorite characters on the show.  His death will break Rick in so many ways.  Will he ever recover?  Will Michonne?

Will we?

Stay tuned.
