Well, people. It’s September. Can you freaking believe it? Where has the time gone? Although I didn’t do everything I wanted during the hot months, I still enjoyed myself and read a some great books. I hope you did, too.
But, in the words of Alexander Hamilton, “Just you wait.” So much is coming in the Fall and I’ll be in attendance for most of it. Below is just a taste of what’s to come:
Brooklyn Book Festival
From September 10-17, the Brooklyn Book Festival will be chock full of events all over the five boroughs of New York City. I missed out on this event last year but won’t this year. I plan on attending a few events throughout the week. See the link for more information. Brooklyn Book Festival
New York Comic Con
I am BEYOND excited about this event (October 4-7), to the point that I’ve been obsessing about my costume. The panels, the cosplay, the chance to see Andrew Lincoln in the flesh (I may not be able to handle that one) has me so geeked out, I may actually explode. See the link for more panel news and information. New York Comic Con
Pete Souza Book Tour for Shade: A Tale of Two Presidents
After the success of Obama: An Intimate Portrait (of which I’ve bought several copies for various family members and myself), Pete Souza will be coming out with another portrait book, this time of photos posted on his Instagram feed throwing shade at 45. I will be attending his book launch in Brooklyn, but he’ll be touring the country for his newest work. See the link for tour dates. Shade Tour Dates
Books, Books And More Books
Aside from these events, I’ll be posting reviews for various novels and short story collections. I’ll also be including poetry collections this year, as I read Milk and Honey over the summer and was absolutely DELIGHTED by Rupi Kaur’s work. I plan to read her latest work, The Sun And Her Flowers, and will post a review. My BuzzFeed Book Challenge will continue with reviews of The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken and Ophelia by Lisa Klein.
Of course, I’ll be recapping The Walking Dead beginning October 7, especially now that it’s been confirmed that Andrew Lincoln will be leaving the show. Alas, no Game of Thrones recaps cuz, you know, we won’t be seeing that show for quite awhile.
I’m also thinking about revamping the website, changing the logo and possibly selling merch. Who doesn’t like a good tote bag?
The second half of 2018 is going to be amazing. Thanks to all of you for continuing to support the site. Talk soon.
