BEFORE I GO ON, THERE WILL BE MAJOR SPOILERS. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
I am not happy. I am not happy. I am NOT happy. This season should have been amazing. Spectacular. Full of so much drama, intrigue and yes, blood, that all of us would be talking about the episodes for years to come. But instead, we got a finale that left me and many others wholly unsatisfied.
Now I’m disappointed, but not sign-a-petition disappointed (calm down, people). Unless I’m signing a petition about police brutality or impeaching 45, I’m not going that far. But I do feel like the last two seasons should have been regular seasons instead of the abbreviated versions we ended up with.
I’m not going to get too far into what I liked and didn’t like, but I will talk about the two things that happened that made me say “what the ever-loving FUCK?”
Dany’s story was one of my favorites and the way it ended was bullshit. Plain ‘ole bullshit. After everything she went through, everything that happened to her (both good and terrible), after finally making it to Westeros, she burns King’s Landing to the ground?? Really?? And then she freaking dies??? When I tell you I was beyond pissed, believe it. But nowhere near as pissed as when Bran was named King.
So you mean to tell me that Bran, who is the damn Three-Eyed Raven, the man or being or whatever the fuck he is who sees EVERYTHING, couldn’t be bothered to tell everyone he was gonna be the new king of Westeros??? Thousands of people died to save his ass (including Theon) and this dude KNEW HE WAS GOING TO BE KING??? The people of King’s Landing were burned to death just so Bran could be king instead of Dany being the new queen?? How the hell can he be an effective king if he can’t even tell people what the hell is going to happen without them dying because of it? He just sat in his chair, looking high as fuck while people were killed in the worst way possible.
Although I am disappointed with this final season, I do have this to say: I will miss Game of Thrones so much. I didn’t watch it until Season 1 was over and everyone was talking about it. I read the books first and lost lots of sleep over them. When I did finally watch the first season, I stayed up ALL NIGHT to watch the entire thing in one sitting. I fell in love with the Starks, the Lannisters, Winterfell, King’s Landing and, of course, Dany. I loved Tyrion’s cleverness and humor. I cringed when I found out about Cersei and Jaime. I cried at the Red Wedding. And I cheered when Dany’s dragons were born. Game of Thrones will forever be a show that I watch over and over again, until HBO removes it from its platform.
Thanks for sticking with me through the years as I recapped this amazing show. I truly appreciate it.
And now our watch has ended. Farewell, Game of Thrones.
